Carinthia
Think of Carinthia think first of mountains? Of steeply ascending Alpine peaks? Of mountain lakes? Of thermal baths? Of the south? All right: 120 peaks over 3.000 meter, 200 lakes with drinking water, 60 mineral springs and more than 1.000 streams and rivers.
The most southern province of Austria with its 9536 square kilometers varied than any other region in Europe.
Dolomites in the west, Hohe Tauern and the Central Alps in the north, Karawanken in the south and in between the gentle hills of the Nockberge, the Klagenfurt Basin with Klopeiner lake, Wörther lake, Ossiacher lake, Faaker lake and the rest of them – an almost unbelievable variety in altitude between 348 meter and 3798 meter at 180 kilometers east-west and 70 kilometers north-south orientation.
That the Carinthians have developed a special relationship to their region does not seem surprising. The mixture of genuine hospitality, water, mountains, fresh air and pure nature is the base for a unique vacation experience. “Holiday a friends” is the promise, “relax and enjoy” the invitation for the guests.
